Mayor Bobby Sanchez along with the City of New Britain Commission on Persons with Disabilities are inviting residents to attend the upcoming 2nd Annual All Abilities Job & Resource Fair.
“Everyone deserves the opportunity to work, contribute, and build a fulfilling career,” said Mayor Sanchez. ““”Our city is stronger when we recognize the talents and abilities of every individual and work to remove barriers to employment. This fair is about opening doors, creating connections, and making sure New Britain continues to be a community where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. I commend our Commission on Persons with Disabilities for their continued advocacy and commitment to making our city more inclusive.”
The event is being held National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The Mayor’s office says that, “the event aims to connect individuals with disabilities to meaningful employment opportunities, valuable resources, and organizations dedicated to supporting their success in the workforce. In addition to connecting job seekers with employers and community resources, the event will feature an awards ceremony recognizing an outstanding employee with a disability and a business or organization that has demonstrated a commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming workplace.”
Melody Rivera, Chairwoman of the City of New Britain Commission on Persons with Disabilities, says that the goal of the, “All Ability Job & Resource Fair is to provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities while also celebrating the achievements of an employee with a disability and a business or organization who has fostered a welcoming and inclusive work place for employees with disabilities with our award ceremony. Acknowledging the hardships those with disabilities face when it comes to employment while also celebrating their accomplishments is what we feel is the best way to honor Disability Employment Awareness Month in New Britain!”
