The Spring Book Sale sponsored by the Friends of the New Britain Public Library will be held from April 30 – May 2, 2026 in the Library’s Community Room at 20 High Street. The Sale opens on Thursday, April 30 with a paid preview ($10/- pp) from 10 am – 12 noon. Admission is free from 12 noon – 2 pm and 5 – 7 pm that day, 10 am – 2 pm Friday, May 1 and 10 am – 2 pm Saturday, May 2. There’s a bag sale Saturday, $10/- per bag (our bags). The Sale features a large selection of fiction, nonfiction, and media. Hardcovers are $2/- each, paperbacks $1/- each. We have a good selection of new and gently used children’s books priced at .50c (paperbacks) and $1/- (hardcovers) each. Across all categories, there are some specially-priced prices.

Also, in honor of our country’s 250th Anniversary, we have planned a special display called The Founding of America. It contains a mix of older titles and newer editions. We also feature a vintage collection of Grand Tour Postcards from the early 20th century and a large selection of WWII books. Also available are many Spanish, Polish, and other foreign language books.

Volunteers from M & T Bank, CCSU, the Library Board and the staff will assist the Friends set up and dismantle the Sale. All proceeds directly benefit the New Britain Public Library, so come out and support your local library.
