Democrats Win in New Britain

Democrats won in New Britain in every election contested this year, as part of what appears to be a nationwide wave of support for Democrats.

In the race for Governor and Lt Governor, the Democrats, Gov Ned Lamont (D – incumbent) and Lt Gov Susan Bysiewicz (D – incumbent) received more votes than the Republicans, State Sen Ryan Fasio and Matt Corey.

For Congress, incumbent Cong Jahana Hayes (D-5) was chosen by New Britain voters over the Republican, Chris Shea.

For State Senate, Democratic Sen Rick Lopes (D-6 – incumbent) received more votes from New Britain voters than Republican Tremell Collins. The district also includes Berlin and part of Farmington.
