The office of Mayor Bobby Sanchez (D) has announced that he, State Rep Iris Sanchez (D-25) and the city Veterans Commission, “will host the annual National Borinqueneers Day Celebration on Monday, April 13th, starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Borinqueneers Monument located at 246 Beaver Street in New Britain.”
The Borinqueneers, Mayor Sanchez’s office pointed out, “are the 65th Infantry Regiment from Puerto Rico, who proudly served the United States in both World Wars and the Korean War. Every year on April 13th, we honor Borinqueneers Day and the sacrifices made and the adversity overcome by Puerto Rican and Hispanic members of the United States Armed Forces.”
In addition to Mayor Sanchez, Rep Sanchez and the Veterans Commission, US Sen Richard Blumenthal (D-6) is tentatively scheduled to attend.
