With Primary Decided, Democrats Announce Special Meeting to Elect Leaders

The New Britain Democratic Party has announced that it will hold a special meeting to elect leaders for the upcoming two-year term of office.

The meeting is planned for Monday, March 11, 2024 at 7:00pm at City Hall room 504. “All registered Democrats are welcome to attend” the party says.

The meeting is held after the election of the new Democratic Town Committee. The members of Committee representing wards 2, 4 and 5 were uncontested. Seventeen members of the Committee representing Democratic voters in Ward 1 and Ward 3 were elected yesterday in a primary election in which the candidates on Row B swept all of the seats up for election.

Among the members re-elected in the primary was sitting Democratic Party Chair Chris Anderson, an electoral win that will likely mean that he will be re-elected on Monday as Party Chair, one of the offices to be selected in the meeting.

The members of the Democratic Town Committee will also elect other local party officials, who lead the local Democratic Party for the two-year term. The Committee’s other role is endorsing candidates for party nomination and members of nominating conventions.
