State Rep. Rick Lopes (D-24) officially announced his campaign for State Senate, while three other Democrats announced their campaigns for State Representative.
Lopes was joined by State Rep. Robert Sanchez (D-25) and State Rep. Peter Tercyak (D-26), who announced their campaigns for re-election.
Five term City Council member, Ald. Manny Sanchez (D-AL) announced his candidacy for the Twenty-Fourth State Assembly District, currently represented by Lopes.
The announcements were made on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at an event at Roma Restaurant on Allen Street.
Democratic Town Chair William Shortell had earlier reported that Lopes intended to campaign for the State Senate and that Ald. Sanchez would be running to succeed him.
The elections for state offices this year is held at the same time as the election for President and Congress. That general election is on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
