“Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow,” said Coach Darwin Shaw, the Tournament Director, in announcing the 2019 event.

The 27th Annual Osgood Shootout will be held on Saturday, August 17th and Sunday, August 18th.

“For the past 26 years,” said Coach Shaw, “67 scholarships have been awarded to New Britain High School graduates from this event. Admission is free. So come out and enjoy some great basketball, food, music and see some old/new friends. Always remember. God is Love.”

The tournament, “New England’s Biggest Summer Men’s Basketball Tournament,” has long been known for spirited competition and for bringing the community together. The tournament raises funds for scholarships.

The Tournament’s history shows its prestige. Shaw has listed among the Osgood Shootout players who have played in the NBA, Kemba Walker, Jared Sullinger, Andre Drummond, Jordan Williams, Jerome Dyson, Jared Jordan, Ryan Gomes, Marcus Camby, James Thomas and Anthony Ireland.

The Tournament, which will be held at New Britain High School, is a single-elimination format. The competition will be in two divisions, high school and open. The promotion for the event says, “Registration is limited. To guarantee a spot, register early.”

Team fees are $150 for high school and $230 for the open division.
