“Into the Woods” at CT Theatre Company

The Connecticut Theatre Company is presenting the play “Into the Woods,” a musical with a creative take on well-known, old fairy tales.

The Theatre says that

The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

The book Into the Woods was written by James Lapine, who also directed the original Broadway production. Music an lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim.

Dennis Hull plays the Narrator and Mysterious Man. Victoria Zacharski plays the role of “Cinderella,” Raul Calderon plays “Jack” and Jodi Dickson plays the part of “Jack’s Mother.”

“The Baker” is played by Duane Campbell and Johanna Regan Milani plays the “Baker’s Wife.” Hannah Rubitz plays the part of “Cinderella’s Stepmother,” Kennedy Morris plays the part of “Florinda” and the role ” Lucinda” is played by Kristi Yurko.

Lisa DeAngelis performs the role “Little Red Riding Hood,” Kat Blair plays “The Witch,” Cinderella’s mother is played by Erin Aldrich, Sabrina Reed plays the role of “Rapunzel,” Stephen Michelsson plays “Cinderella’s Prince” and the “Wolf,” Noah Pekari plays “Rapunzel’s Prince,” Henry Quinones plays the role of “Steward,” Nancy Thody plays “Granny” and the Giant and Stephen Maher plays Cinderella’s father.

The play will be performed from May 24, 2019 to June 16th.

The Theatre says that its production of the play, “Is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.”

The Connecticut Theater Company is located at the historic Repertory Theatre of New Britain, which is at 23 Norden Street.
