The 2019 National Rebuilding Day will be on Saturday, April 27th.

Rebuilding Together has been active in New Britain for decades, with many people volunteering to improve the lives of people in need across the city each April.

The local organization, led by Executive Director Kathleen Brummett, says that it, “will host an estimated 250 volunteers this Saturday to complete eleven home repair projects for low-income New Britain homeowners.”

The organization adds that, “Projects take place between 8 am and 4 pm, but the time each project ends will vary. The best times to visit are from 8:30 am to 1 pm.”

Project captains for 2019 are Kevin and Glenn Anderson of First Church of New Britain, David Morneault of the New Britain Housing Authority, John Tibor and Priscilla Bradford of North Haven Congregational Church, Charles Paonessa of the ReCONNstruction Center and Jennifer Googins of CW Resources.

New Britain locations for the 2019 National Rebuilding Day include 75 Winthrop Street, 19 Westover Road, 57 Fortress Street and 36 Covington Street.

Rebuilding Together New Britain says that affiliates of the national nonprofit organization, “bring together thousands of community volunteers each year to provide free home repairs and modifications to low-income Americans, particularly people who are elderly, people with disabilities, military veterans and families in need.”

Rebuilding Together says that it,

works to strengthen the lives of our most vulnerable communities by providing low-income homeowners with critical home repairs, accessibility modifications and energy-efficient upgrades. Rebuilding Together’s local affiliates and nearly 100,000 volunteers complete about 10,000 rebuild projects each year. We believe that everyone deserves to live in a safe and healthy home. As we help to stabilize and revitalize neighborhoods across the country, our lasting impact extends beyond each home.
