City of New Britain Offering Small Business Microgrant Program, Mayor Sanchez Announces
New Britain Mayor Bobby Sanchez (D) has announced that the city is opening the 2006 small business microgrant program.
“This microgrant program is about investing directly in the entrepreneurs who are investing in New Britain by helping local businesses grow, creating new opportunities, and building a stronger local economy for the future,” said Mayor Sanchez. “Small businesses are essential to New Britain’s success. They create jobs, bring energy to our neighborhoods, and contribute to the unique character of our city.”
The program, the city says, “is offered in the form of a forgivable loan and the selected businesses must submit proof of location annually for a period of 5 years until the loans are forgiven.”
Small businesses interested can reach out to Margaret Malinowski at the city’s Department of Planning and Development – 860-826-3341 or Margaret.malinowski@newbritainct.gov.
“The deadline to submit an application is Friday, November 6, 2026 at 4pm,” the city says, “however applicants are encouraged to apply early.”
