“Gorgy Meets Youth” Workshop Offers Teens Essential Life Skills and Mentorship
A local workshop aimed at empowering teenagers is offering a comprehensive summer program designed to build vital life skills, support mental wellness, and encourage community involvement.
“Gorgy Meets Youth,” presented by LEAD (Leaders for Educational Advocacy and Diversity) and featuring “Gorgy by Candy,” by Candyce Scott.invites local teens to participate in an ongoing series of educational and supportive sessions. The program is structured around four core pillars to help young residents successfully build their futures:
- Computer Writing Tutorial & Reading Mentoring: Dedicated time for teens to build essential digital skills, refine their writing, and strengthen their reading abilities for academic and professional growth.
- Mental Health Wellness: A supportive space focused on teaching self-care strategies, stress management, and confidence-building techniques.
- Civic Engagement & Trips: Opportunities for youth to get involved locally, make a tangible difference, and explore new places and real-world opportunities.
- Experiences, Exposure, Empowerment: A broader initiative to help participants discover their own voices, broaden their worldviews, and take charge of their futures.
The workshops take place every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, starting August 11, 2026. Sessions are hosted at 114 W Main Street, New Britain, CT 06051.
