Review of EuroPLATE

A Review by Sean Gallagher

Within the New Britain Little Poland neighborhood is a traditional Polish restaurant called EuroPLATE. Located on Broad Street, the restaurant offers a glimpse of Polish homemade cooking, and has authentic recipes putting emphasis on quality, fresh ingredients, and comfort. Whether you’re already familiar with and grew up with traditional Polish dishes or just trying Polish cuisine for the first time, the restaurant creates an extremely welcoming environment with tons of different types of sections on their menu.

The inside of the establishment is very clean, and creates a rather cozy atmosphere. Despite the small size of the restaurant, the environment feels more welcoming rather than feeling crowded and overwhelming. On top of this, the staff is very friendly and are willing to help customers who are unfamiliar with Polish cuisine and help them make the right choices as to what dishes they will enjoy the most. The two most popular options on the menu seemed to be the plates, where you could pick and choose what kinds of foods you would like to get. You could get either a small plate or a large plate. There were many different foods to choose from, including sauerkraut, different kinds of pierogies, potato pancakes, meat dishes, along with many other flavorful items.

On top of the two plate options being relatively cheap, the people serving the food were extremely generous with the serving sizes. I ended up getting some pork, potato perogies, dumplings, sauerkraut, and kopytka, which are small potato dumplings. Everything on the plate was packed with flavor and gave me a real taste as to what real Polish cuisine tastes like. On top of this, I also ordered pea soup which was very flavorful.

Overall, EuroPLATE stands out as a staple of New Britain’s Polish community. It offers authentic Polish dishes, reminding the Polish population of the city of traditional home cooking while also offering those unfamiliar with authentic Polish food an amazing opportunity to immerse themselves into Polish culture. Everything ranging from their homemade perogies to the pea soup demonstrates the time and care that the employees of EuroPLATE put into creating dishes for everyone to try. This restaurant should be considered as a highly recommended restaurant for anyone who wants a taste of authentic Polish food in Connecticut. I would give this restaurant 4.5 out of 5 stars and most certainly look forward to coming back here again with its excellent food and comforting atmosphere, and extremely friendly staff.
