NAACP and Diaspora Hosting Day of Service Honoring Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr

The NAACP New Britain #2006 and the Diaspora Multicultural Society are planning a Hosting Day of Service event Honoring Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr and local “Stewards of the Dream.”

Event organizers say that the event is, “A community-centered gathering rooted in Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s belief that justice is love made visible through action. We will come together to offer a free, warm meal prepared and shared with dignity and compassion.”

At the event, Janice C Edwards and Ronald P Davis will be honored as “Stewards of the Dream”.

The event is to be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Diaspora Society.

“This act of solidarity is a reminder that our liberation is bound together, and that service is one of the most powerful ways to honor Dr. King’s vision,” event organizers say. “As Dr. King taught us, everyone can serve because everyone can do something to uplift others. Therefore we are answering that call by practicing collective love, advancing justice, and strengthening our collective responsibility to one another.”

Organizers quote Rev Dr King, who said, “Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve.”

The Diaspora Multicultural Society is located a 90 John Street.
