Mayor Sanchez Announces 2-Hour Free Parking for Holiday Season
New Britain Mayor Bobby Sanchez (D) has announced that the city is providing two hour free metered parking for the holiday season.
“New Britain’s small businesses are the heart of our community, especially during the holiday season,” Mayor Sanchez said.
“Offering free parking is one way we can make it easier for folks to shop local, support our hardworking business owners, and enjoy the incredible variety of stores, gifts, food, and holiday traditions that make our city so special,” Mayor Sanchez added.
The Mayor’s office said that, “Starting today, Monday December 15, 2025 there will be 2-hour free parking in Downtown New Britain, on Arch Street and on Broad Street for holiday shoppers. The regular parking meter rates will resume at 8 a.m. on Monday December 29, 2025.”
“The 2-hour free parking applies to the parking meters located on Main Street, West Main Street, Arch Street, Broad Street, and those inside the Badolato parking garage,” the Mayor’s office added. “The Blogoslawski/Courthouse and Szczesny parking garages will still charge normal parking fees.”
The city said that patrols will continue in downtown, Arch Street and Little Poland to enforce the two-hour limit and that, “Vehicles that are left beyond that limit will be subject to ticket or towing at the owner’s expense.
