Rep Sanchez and Ald Beloin-Saavedra to Debate

Mayoral candidates, Democratic Representative Bobby Sanchez (D-25) and Republican Alderperson Sharon Beloin-Saavedra (R-1) are to face each other in a debate held in New Britain Public Library, on Thursday, October 2nd 6:00-7:30 pm.

The last New Britain mayoral candidate debate was held 6 years ago due to mayor Erin Stewart refusal to debate her last two terms.

Rep. Bobby Sanchez has been a state representative of New Britain’s District 25 since 2011. Before joining the state legislature, he served on the New Britain Board of Education. Sanchez also served forty years as an early childhood educator, social worker, fatherhood initiative coordinator and shelter director.

Ald. Beloin-Saavedra served on the New Britain school board 2005-2017 on the democratic slate – eight of those years serving as president. She also served as alderwoman four non-consecutive terms – two terms on the Democratic slate (1989-1993) and two terms on the Republican slate (2019-2021, 2023-2025)
