NBRJC to Hold New Britain For All Community Budget Forum

The New Britain Racial Justice Coalition is planning a Community Budget Forum on the city budget.

The Coalition says, “Please join the New Britain Racial Justice Coalition for a Community Budget Forum as a part of our New Britain for All anti-gentrification campaign.”

“We plan to analyze the current city budget, explain how a city budget is drafted, sketch out our own city budget, and discuss action steps to get our community budget passed,” the Coalition says.

The Coalition adds, “We are advocating for increased funding for housing and education, and a reallocation of funds from the mayor’s budget and the police budget to support these priorities. We believe these investments are crucial for building a more just and equitable community.”

The event is Saturday February 22nd, 2025, 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the Community Meeting Room at the New Britain Public Library at 20 High Street.

An RSVP website is available. “Lunch will be served so please register,” organizers say.

“We look forward to hearing your perspective and ideas,” the Coalition says, “We cannot do this work alone and we support you in standing up for our city. All are welcome, with encouraged attendance of current New Britain residents.”

“Parking can be found on the street and in the lot behind the building,” organizers say. “For any accommodations, you can also email us at nbracialjustice@gmail.com.”
