It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Alton Brooks, a revered community leader, who left us this past Friday. Dr. Brooks was a symbol of wisdom and service, deeply touching the lives of many.
Dr. Alton Brooks’ legacy of service is unparalleled. As a man of faith, he attended Spottswood AME Zion Church, where he found spiritual nourishment and community. A dedicated member and leader of the Democratic Party and the Black Democrats of New Britain, Dr. Brooks was also an integral part of the NAACP New Britain Branch. His tireless dedication to improving the lives of others and his unwavering commitment to justice and equality have left an indelible mark on our community. His presence was a guiding light, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled.
On behalf of Common Council President Francisco Santiago, Majority Leader John McNamara, Assistant Majority Leader Iris Sanchez, and the entire council, we extend our deepest sympathies to all who have been touched by Dr. Brooks’ passing. Our sentiments are with his family, friends, and the entire community during this difficult time.
