Council Member Wins Parking to Help Local Business

Third Ward City Council member, Ald. Candyce Scott (D-3) says she is celebrating a win that will help a small business in her district.

“The owner of Express Pizza told me that his customers were being ticketed for parking outside the restaurant on Allen Street,” Ald. Scott said. So she pressed for a change for the installation of, “a 15 minute parking sign so customers can run in and grab their delicious pizza without the extra ticket!”

Scott says that, “It is not just a 15 minute sign. This is helping a small business owner in Ward 3 and also his customers. This is a step towards building and improving our community.”

“This is so important because our voices need to be heard,” said Scott, saying she, “wants to empower and encourage residents to reach out to her so she can work with them to improve economic growth, and the overall well being of every person who resides in our city.”

“We have lots of work to do around here,” said Scott, encouraging people to, “Please [call] or message Candyce Scott at 860.325.3119 or any of that other Democratic council member if you need anything.” Fellow Democrat and Council Assistant Majority Leader, Ald. Iris Sanchez (D-3) represents Ward 3, as well.

Republican Ald. Jason Gibson (D-3) also represents the Ward.
