NBMAA to Host Access for All Community Day on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
The New Britain Museum of American Art says that, “In commemoration of Dr. King’s birthday, the NBMAA is partnering with the CT Center for Nonviolence (CTCN) to present an afternoon of art-making, music, and learning.”
The Access for All Community Day is to be Monday, January 15, 2024 from 11:00am to 3:00pm.
“Join us for a series of programs throughout the day that explore Dr. King’s thoughts on humanity through topics including Beloved Community, Race, Kindness, Boldness, Speaking Up, Giving, and Acts of Service,” adding that the program is to include,
– 11 a.m.-2 p.m. | Community Crest Project by Shanna T. Melton
– 11:15 a.m.-12 p.m. | Drumming Circle by Gamalia Moses (Stanley Works Center)
– 12-12:45 p.m. | Interactive Theater by Francis Estrada – For teens and tweens
– 12:15-1 p.m. | Freedom Song Circle by Ms. Gina LeVon Simpson (Stanley Works Center)
– 1:15-2 p.m. | Afro Beats Dance by Adjovi Simpini (Stanley Works Center)
– 2:15-3 p.m. | Culminating Program: Community Storytelling (Stanley Works Center)
“This Community Day is also the kickoff for the Museum’s monthly ‘Access for All’ free community days,” the Museum says, “made possible through generous support provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program.”
