The New Britain Museum of American Art is hosting a Gallery Talk event on “The Black Matriarchs: UJIMA – Collective Work and Personal Responsibility!” with Jimmie Elizabeth Nkonoki Ward and Lisa Nkonoki

The Museum says that,

The Black Matriarchs Series celebrates the legacy of a remarkable community of Black women who worked and lived in New Britain for many years, and is organized in collaboration with Jimmie Elizabeth Nkonoki-Ward, the James and Agnes Timmons Legacy, Nkonoki-Ward Family, and the Nkonoki-Green Family Community Initiatives.

The event is December 28, 2023, at 1:00pm at the Museum.

The Black Matriarchs Series is a tribute to Black and African American women who are pillars in their families and in their community,” the Museum says. The Gallery Talk is being held in the final week of the exhibit.
