โ€œWe served over 100 people,โ€ Pastor Smith said about the distribution on October 21st, โ€œand we still came up short. We donโ€™t want to leave anyone out this time. Please donate a brand new coat and hats and groves TODAY so no one goes without.โ€

New Life II is giving away coats for men and women, hats, gloves and socks. The event is also to include hot cider, snacks and music.

The program is a part of as part of New Life IIโ€™s continuing efforts to help people and that include building healthy neighborhoods. The event is being sponsored by Wellspring, The Spott Unlimited, CMHA, Legend Barbershop, Meineke of New Britain, Wheeler Clinic and the Center for Community Engagement and Social Research.

Pastor Dana Smith and Pastor Evelyn Smith, announced the opening the new Recovery Community Center at 117 West Main Street, in the heart of the city, this summer. โ€œNew Life II was created by the community,โ€ the organization says, โ€œand we are here for our community!โ€

Another upcoming New Life II program is its, Integrated Healing Facilitator Overview Training. โ€œThis free 4-hour overview training,โ€ New Life II says, โ€œis an introduction to the Integrated Healing Facilitator (IHF) approach and is approved for 3.5 CCB CEUโ€™s, adding,

Integrated Healing Facilitator (IHF) training offers a holistic approach in working with, and supporting individuals. IHF view people holistically; as whole people living complex lives and who may be facing a variety of struggles. IHF Training and curriculum is taught through a social justice lens that redefines the nature of what โ€œhelpโ€ means. IHF is one of the only approaches that attempts to hold all of these pieces at the same time. In doing so, we consider four primary components of a full life: Mind, Body, Spirit, and Community.

This, New Life II says, means the training, โ€œis built around five considerations: Impact of Trauma, Impact of Systemic Oppression, Science & Research, Harm Reduction Principles, Best Practices for Support.โ€

Information about the program is available at the Recovery Community Center at 117 West Main Street, at the New Life II website, or by contacting Pastor Dana Smith at 860-371-8271 or dsmith@newlife2.org

New Life II is also offering a, โ€œKnowledge is Power,โ€ Integrated Healing Facilitator training, to be held online. New Life II says it, โ€œis offering IHF Overview Training to people looking to grow personally and contribute to positive transformation in their neighborhood.

The free training is to be on November 11, 2022, from 10:00am to 2:00pm. New Life II says that, โ€œSpace is Limited! Reserve your spot today! mtaylor@newlife2.org.โ€
