Jr Canes Open Registration for 10th Anniversary Year

The New Britain Jr Canes, celebrating its tenth anniversary year, is beginning early registration for its next season of football and cheerleading.

New Britain Youth Football & Cheer, Inc., the official name for the Jr Canes organization, says that,

In these years Jr Canes has created memorable moments in theatre, baseball, flag, football, dance, cheerleading, recognized community service, trio program, making breakfast and serving seniors, collaborations, relationships with all schools, and feeder system to New Britain High School mentoring and developing student athletes & more!

The organization adds, “Join us Jr Canes Alumni, Families, Players, & Friends in sharing past 9 seasons of memorable memories and heading into a great 10th season!”

The organization is holding early registration, including for its tackle football, cheerleading, flag football and tiny cheer programs.

The early registration begins tonight, March 5, 2020. It will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the upper gym area at New Britain High School at 110 Mill Street.

Tackle football programs are available for boys and girls, aged eight to thirteen. The Jr Canes say that fee for tackle football is $130.

The Cheerleading program is available for children, ages eight to ten. The registration fee for this program is $130.

Jr Canes NFL Play 60 flag football, the Jr Canes say is, “Where you begin to learn the basic fundamentals of football.” It is played in two divisions. Division I is for children four years old, while Division II is for kids age five to seven. The Jr Canes say registration for flag football is $55.

The Tiny Cheer program is for children, ages four to seven. The season for the program is to begin in July of 2020. The registration fee is $35.

Additional early registration dates are planned for March 19, 2020, April 9th and 22nd and May 7th and 21st. Registration is from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on each date. Registration is also planned to be at New Britain High School on those dates. The Jr Canes say that the registration rates increase by $25 on June 1st.

is a not for profit organization formed to provide children living in the community the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of sports. The primary goal is to develop young men and women; who through participation in the program; will progress into New Britain High School football and cheerleading program creating a feeder system that will focus on the student-athlete as a whole and produce successful community contributors as well as fundamentally sound athletes.
