Jr. Canes Regular Season End Nears

The Jr. Canes have two more weeks of regular season play before playoffs begin, and are playing this weekend at home in New Britain.

New Britain Hurricanes Youth Football & Cheerleading, the nonprofit organization that runs the Jr. Hurricanes football, cheer, dance and other programs, is optimistic about its teams playoff prospects.

Two of the Jr. Canes teams are undefeated and the organization says that five of its teams are eligible to complete for the National tournament.

On the weekend of Saturday, October 19, 2019 and Sunday, October 20th, the Jr. Canes play at home against Hartford.

On Saturday, the 19th, Flag Football, Division 1 plays at 8:00am and Flag Division 2 play at 9:00am. The 8U team plays at 11:00am, the 9U team plays at 1:00pm and the 10U team plays at 3:00pm.

On Sunday, the 20th, the 11U plays at 10:00am, the 12U team plays at 12:00pm and the 13U team plays at 2:00pm.

The Jr. Canes play their home games at Chesley Park on Wildwood Street.

Also on October 20th, the Jr. Canes are expecting a visit from the Susan Komen New England organization. The visit is to recognize the Jr. Canes volunteer efforts of in support of the work against breast cancer, including the annual June More Than Pink Walk.

The final regular season games for the Jr. Canes teams will be away on October 26th to 27th in Meriden.

New Britain Youth Football & Cheer, Inc., the official name of the Jr. Canes organization, has said that it is,

a not for profit organization formed to provide children living in the community the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of sports. The primary goal is to develop young men and women; who through participation in the program; will progress into New Britain High School football and cheerleading program creating a feeder system that will focus on the student-athlete as a whole and produce successful community contributors as well as fundamentally sound athletes.

The New Britain Jr. Canes is a part of the Connecticut Youth Football & Cheer League and American Youth Football.
