The Connecticut Breast Health Initiative (CT BHI) recently held an event to announce its 2018 grants, as well as to thank sponsors and volunteers.
The event was held October 25th at the Shuttle Meadow Country Club.
The signature fundraising event for Connecticut Breast Health Initiative is the Connecticut Race in the Park. The event draws thousands of people to New Britain’s Walnut Hill Park each year to raise funds for the work of the CT BHI.
The Connecticut Breast Health Initiative announced that its 2018 grants are include the University of Connecticut for the work of Kate Dibble, PhD, on a project titled, “Genetic counseling for BRCA1/2 mutations: Patient experiences, preferences and outcomes of counseling.”
Another grant went to Stamford Health’s Barbara Carr for the Stamford Health High Risk Breast Assessment Program.
Finally the Connecticut Breast Health Initiative awarded a grant to Aswanth Reddy, MD, for work on Genomic Assessment of Tumors from Metastatic Breast Cancer Patients.
The Connecticut Breast Health Initiative thanked its sponsors and its volunteers at the event.
Linda Carroll was recognized as the top individual fundraiser.
Receiving the Pink Ribbon Youth Awards were Makenna Tucker and Linnea Tucker.
The Connecticut Breast Health Initiative says that it, “is a state-wide non-profit organization making a significant impact in the quest to find a cure for breast cancer by providing grants to support education and research in Connecticut.”

Pointing out that, “100% of the money raised by CT BHI stays in CT in support of education and research, funding progressive programs that have yet to qualify for federal grants,” the organization says that it has awarded $3.6 million in grants since its founding in 2005.
