Osgood Shootout 2018 Game Times, Brackets and Scholarship Recipients

Coach Darwin Shaw, the Director of the Osgood Shootout Basketball Tournament, has announced the game times and playoff brackets for the 2018 Tournament, as well as scholarship recipients.

The 26th anniversary of the venerable New Britain scholarship benefit will be held on August 18th and 19th.

The first games will begin at 9:30am on Saturday, the 18th. The final Championship game will begin at 5:45pm on Sunday, the 19th.

The Tournament, which will be held at New Britain High School, at 110 Mill Street, is a single-elimination format.

The competition will be in two divisions, high school and open.

Shaw also announced the 2018 recipients of Osgood Shootout scholarships:

  • Adele Carr, daughter of Nicolin and the late Fire Chief Mark Carr, is a 2018 New Britain High School graduate. She has earned numerous honors as a high school student, including serving as vice president of the Science National Honor Society. She completed in outdoor track and with the Power Puff football team. She will be attending the University of Maryland, majoring in public health science.
  • Jaylen Rivera is the son of Sheka Neal. He was a 2018 graduate who was an honors student at NBHS and competed in football and track, serving as captain of both teams. He will be attending Post University, majoring in sports management.
  • Chelsea Anthony, a NBHS class of 2018 graduate who is the daughter of Angela and Cuthbert Anthony. She served as Battalion Commander of the JROTC program. She will be attending the University of Connecticut, majoring in biomedical engineering.
  • Erasmus Gunawan, son of Gunawan and Christine Safitri, is a 2018 NBHS graduate. An honors student, he will be attending the University of Connecticut at Hartford, majoring in biological sciences.
  • Ianna Rice, daughter of Sophia Rice. A 2018 New Britain High School graduate, she was awarded the Albert A. Vieira Scholarship. She played for and was captain of the NBHS basketball team. She will be attending Mitchell College, majoring in criminal justice.
  • David Rybczyk, a 2018 NBHS graduate, is the son of Elizabeth Atwood and Marc Rybczyk. In high school, he competed as a member of the basketball team. He will attend the University of Saint Joseph, majoring in sports management.
