The 2018 Osgood Shootout Basketball Tournament will be held on August 18th and 19th, the Tournament’s Director, Coach Darwin Shaw, has announced.

The 2018 Tournament marks the 26th anniversary of the venerable New Britain event.

“Thank you to Our Lord,” said Shaw, “Back by popular demand. The Osgood Shootout will return for year 26. Come out and support this event, which has awarded 61 scholarships to NBHS graduates over the years. Admission is free. Enjoy some great basketball, food, music and reminisce with old friends.”

The tournament, “New England’s Biggest Summer Men’s Basketball Tournament,” has long been known for spirited competition and for bringing the community together. The tournament raises funds for scholarships.

The Tournament’s history shows its prestige. Shaw lists among the Osgood Shootout players who have played in the NBA, Kemba Walker, Jared Sullinger, Andre Drummond, Jordan Williams, Jerome Dyson, Jared Jordan, Ryan Gomes, Marcus Camby, James Thomas and Anthony Ireland.

The Tournament, which will be held at New Britain High School, is a single-elimination format. The promotion for the event says, “Registration is limited. To guarantee a spot, register early.”

Team fees are $150 for high school and $230 for the open division.
