Entering its sixty-second year, the New Britain Summer Music Workshop is registering students for its programs for the summer of 2018.

The program’s invitation says that it is, “for music students in grades 2 – 8 for piano, 2 – 6 for vocals (7 & 8 by instructor’s approval) and grades 4 – 8 for band/orchestra.”

The program is Monday to Friday between June 25, 2018 and July 20th. The workshop runs from 9:00am to 12:00pm. There is no program session on July 4th.

The workshop is held at New Britain High School on Mill Street.

There will be a piano recital on July 17th at the NBHS Lecture Hall.  Summer Music Concerts will be held in the NBHS Auditorium on July 19th at 10:00am and at 7:00pm.

The lead teacher for the Summer Music Workshop is Mr. Chuck Lunn. The program invitation says that questions about the workshop can be directed to children’s music teachers in New Britain schools or to Mr. Lunn at [email protected].

The costs for the program are $115 for New Britain residents, which includes $15 for a t-shirt. The cost for non-residents is $165 for non-residents, which also includes $15 for a t-shirt.

The program invitation asks families interested to complete its application form, and return it to Chuck Lunn, Lead Teacher, Summer Music Program, New Britain High School, 110 Mill Street, New Britain, CT 06051.

Parks and Recreation also holds a Summer Day Camp program, which occurs after the Summer Music Workshop, from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, at NBHS and Willow Brook Pool. That program is $175 and includes lunch. Information about the Summer Day Camp is available at the Parks and Recreation office at 860-826-3360.
