OIC to Hold Annual Gala June 1st

The Opportunities Industrialization Center of New Britain (OIC) will hold its Annual Gala on June 1, 2018, celebrating with the theme, “Through trials and tribulations, let the good times roll.”

The event supports the programs of the OIC.

OIC of New Britain provides services to economically empower people in the community, such youth employment and job training. OIC of America describes the mission of OIC as, “preparing people for today’s workforce by providing educational, health, and employment readiness services to underserved and underrepresented communities.”

The 2018 Gala will be held at the St. George Greek Orthodox Hall, which is at 301 West Main Street.

The event will begin at 5:00pm, with a networking social from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Dinner by Teresa’s Catering and the event program will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Honorees at the event include:

  • State Representative Robert Sanchez (D-25)
  • OIC Alumnus Leticia Mangual, Youth Director of HRA
  • OIC Alumnus Jane Ostrowski, Retired S.S. Administration
  • OIC Alumnus Christopher Morin

Sharon Lapilla is to receive the OIC Essence Award and Duane Pierre is to receive the Angelo Tomasso Community Award.

Paul Salina is to be honored with the Leon Howard Sullivan Award.

Tickets are $60, if purchased up to May 4th. Regular tickets are $70 from May 5th to May 18th. Tickets are available online on the Eventbrite site. Online ticket sales end on May 18th.
