The event began with a breakfast for volunteers, provided by Central Connecticut State University. Volunteers then divided into teams who cleaned up trash in different parts of the North Oak neighborhood.
The New Britain Police Department, CCSU, the New Britain Community Gardens organization and numerous others provided support, labor and other other assistance.
Elected officials in attendance included State Representative Bobby Sanchez (D-25), Council President Pro-Tempore Eva Magnusnewski (D-AL), Ald. Iris Sanchez (D-3), Ald. Aram Ayalon (D-3), Ald. Don Naples (R-4), Ald. Richard Reyes (D-AL), Ald. Kristian Rosado (R-2), Ald. Francisco Santiago (D-5) and Board of Education members Violet Sims (D) and James Sanders (R).
