CCSU Volleyball Team Holding School Supplies Drive for Smalley Academy Feb 24th

The Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) Volleyball Team is holding a school supplies drive to benefit the students at the Smalley Academy elementary school.

“The volleyball team is collecting the school supplies in an effort to help replenish supplies at Smalley Academy and make the school year easier for the students and teachers,” says a promotion from CCSU Athletics.

The school supplies drive is to be held at the CCSU men’s and women’s basketball games on Saturday, February 24, 2018. The games are to be held at 1:00pm and 3:30pm at the Kaiser Gymnasium on the campus of CCSU.

“Please consider bringing school supplies when you come to watch our Blue Devils men’s and women’s basketball games,” says a flyer promoting the drive. The volleyball team will be taking donations in the gymnasium lobby, allowing people to donate as they enter the basketball games.

The CCSU women’s basketball team will play St. Francis University at 1:00pm and the men’s team will play St. Francis Brooklyn at 3:30pm.

School supplies requested include:

  • Glue sticks
  • Pens
  • Crayons
  • Notebooks
  • Erasers
  • Colored pencils
  • Tissues
  • Lined paper
  • Stress balls
  • Lysol wipes
  • Markers
  • Hand sanitizers
  • Dry erasers
  • Folders
  • Tape
  • Highlighters
  • Index cards
  • Rulers
  • Scissors

The event is being sponsored by California Pizza Kitchen, in addition to the the CCSU volleyball team.

In addition to the basketball games, donations for the school supplies drive may also be dropped off at the CCSU President’s Office or the CCSU Office of Institutional Advancement. Both are in CCSU Davidson Hall. The North Oak Neighborhood Revitalization Zone is also collecting supplies as part of the drive at its meeting on February 26th at 7:00pm at Right Now Ministries at the Four Star Plaza at 224 Allen Street.
