2018 Parks and Recreation Summer Employment Applications Being Accepted

The cold, ice and snow of winter may still be upon the people of New Britain, but, with the hot days of summer ahead, applications for 2018 summer employment with city Parks and Recreation are now being accepted.

Parks and Recreation is seeking applicants for positions in:

  • Aquatics, including pool managers, swim instructors and lifeguards.
  • Summer camps, includign site supervisors, assistant site supervisors, and group leaders.
  • Specialty programs, including seasonal clerical staff and theatre instructors.

Parks and Recreation says that, “Summer employment can be a learning experience for young people in the community. Employment helps young people develop a good work ethic, foster the ability to work with others as a team, and strengthen individual skill sets. Candidates interested in summer camp positions should show passion in or have experience in working with youth in out-of-school settings. Candidates interested in aquatics positions should show interest in water activities, swimming, and know how to swim – lifeguard certification is required prior to hire date.”

Parks and Recreation says that those interesting in applying for a summer employment position are required to complete a City of New Britain Employment Application, along with supplemental questions, submit a letter of recommendation and take an employment test.

Parks and Recreation says that Friday, March 16, 2018 at 3:45pm is the deadline to apply for all aquatics, camp and specialty program summer positions.
