Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra Announces 2017-2018 Season

The Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra has announced the performances for its 2017-2018 season. This season is the Orchestra’s twenty-first season, which it calls a season of “reincarnations.”

“The name ‘Reincarnations’ to me implies change, the reincarnation of the style of the musical idea, going from Mozart to Schoenberg. It’s a reinvention of the Classical,” says Virtuosi’s founder and Artistic Director, Adrian Sylveen.

The Orchestra’s New Britain performances will be:

  • Friday, October 20, 2017 7:30pm. Clarinet Concerto by Mozart and Verklärte Nacht by Arnold Schoenberg, with soloist Jim Forgy on the clarinet. The performance will be at the First Church of Christ Congregational at 830 Corbin Avenue.
  • Friday, November 17, 2017 7:30pm. Magic Flute by Mozart. The performance will be at Trinity-On-Main, 69 Main Street.
  • December 17, 2017 3:00pm. Polish Christmas Concert. The performance will be at Central Connecticut State University’s Welte Auditorium.
  • Friday, February 23, 2018 7:30pm. Andante spianato et Grande polonaise brillante by Chopin and Symphoniette by Milhaud with soloist Rafael Lewandowski on the piano. The performance will be at the First Church of Christ Congregational at 830 Corbin Avenue.
  • Friday, March 16, 2018 7:30pm. Choral Concert with CCSU University Singers, Drew Colins, conductor. The performance will be at the First Church of Christ Congregational at 830 Corbin Avenue.
  • Friday, May 11th, 2018 7:30pm. Aida by Verdi. The performance will be at Trinity-On-Main, 69 Main Street.
  • Friday, June 1, 2018 7:30pm. Serenade by Bernstein and Adagio by Ives, with Brunilda Myftaraj on the violin. The performance will be at the First Church of Christ Congregational at 830 Corbin Avenue.

The mission of Virtuosi is to preserve and perpetuate the great traditions of orchestral music through the expansion of its public performance season, its education series, and, by showcasing the excellence of regional and international talent.

Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra was established in 1997, and performs each year in New Britain, New London, Middletown, New York and Waterbury.
