St. Mary’s Church Recieves $20,000 for Food Pantry from Archbishop’s Appeal

Archbishop Leonard P. Blair has presented Saint Mary Church, the Saint Joachim Parish, led by its Pastor, Reverend Israel Rivera, with $20,000 in funding to support the parish’s food pantry. The Saint Mary Food Pantry provides non-perishable food to about 100 families in need each week.

“These are families from different culture backgrounds who come to Saint Mary Food Pantry relying on us to alleviate their financial burden,” said the parish in statement, recalling the words of St. Teresa of Calcutta, “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one.”

The $20,000 is provided in part through the Archdiocese of Hartford through the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal Vicariate Outreach Program. The Archbishop’s Annual Appeal helps people across the Archdiocese of Hartford with health care, education, housing, emergency expenses and in numerous other areas.
