The Polish American Council of Greater New Britain Charities, Inc. has announced that New Britain’s 2017 Dożynki festival will be held on August 26th and 27th.

Dożynki is the traditional Polish harvest celebration, giving thanks for a bountiful harvest. This year, New Britain will be celebrating the 37th Dożynki festival.

The festival begins with the celebration of mass at 11:00am on Saturday, the 26th. Opening ceremonies follow the mass, followed by a vibrant celebration of Polish culture.

Food, music, dancing and community celebration continue through Saturday, the 26th and Sunday, the 27th.

New Britain is widely recognized as one of the key centers of Polish culture in the United States, and people travel from across Connecticut and the larger region to attend cultural events in New Britain and visit Little Poland on Broad Street.

The Dożynki festival is held at Falcon Field (Polanka) at 721 Farmington Avenue in New Britain.
