News Brief

Several community organizations are holding a Voter Engagement Day on Thursday, November 3rd to encourage people to exercise their right to vote. The New Britain Branch NAACP#2006, Pride of CT Elk Lodge #1437, Spottswood Political Action Committee and New Britain Black Democratic Club are jointly hosting the event.

In encouraging people to attend the event, the New Britain Branch of the NAACP points out that with this year’s election, “There is much at stake. The blood, sweat and tears of our Forefathers will be in vain. All that has been accomplished for our children and our children’s children and our families, through Civil Rights activism for justice and equality, will be out the window. It is imperative, you, as an activist and member of the New Britain Branch NAACP, stand and commit your time, talent and treasure to ensure we get out the Vote to vote on the candidate who represents our values, the values of our families and the values of the NAACP.”

The groups say that, “Everyone is invited to come out and to become informed voters,” and also encourage residents to, “understand the three questions on the Ballot Box for New Britain Residents to decide,” referring to the three proposals to revise the New Britain City Charter.”

The event will be held Thursday, November 3, 2016 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Pride of CT Elk Lodge 24-30 Elm Street New Britain. Light snacks will be provided.
