North Oak Neighborhood Celebrates at Willow Street Park

Residents of the North Oak neighborhood enjoyed music, food and activities at the 2018 North Oak Neighborhood Revitalization Zone (NRZ) Willow Street Park Celebration on August 19th.

The NRZ invited residents to the event as, “a celebration of its recent accomplishments in improving the neighborhood and moving toward making it a more vibrant community.”

The event was originally scheduled for Saturday August 18th, but rainy weather caused the celebration to be delayed to Sunday the 19th.

The one-day delay rewarded the neighborhood richly with spectacular late summer weather, dry and sunny, what many people said was the perfect weather for a neighborhood festival.

With music played by Pablo “DJ Chino” Rodriguez, activities, tables presenting information and the Willow Street Park’s playground and splash pad, neighbors enjoyed a cheerful community celebration.

Residents were joined by State Rep. Bobby Sanchez (D-25), City Council members, including the Council President Pro-Tempore, Ald. Eva Magnuszewski (D-AL), Ald. Iris Sanchez (D-3), Ald. Manny Sanchez (D-AL), Ald. Katie Breslin (D-AL) and Ald. Francisco Santiago (D-5), Board of Education members, including the Board President, Nicole Crawford Rodriguez and Yvonne Muniz, and city Fire Chief Raul Ortiz.
