New Britain’s Puerto Rican Festival, Celebration and Helping Hurricane Relief

Hundreds of people gathered on front on the Puerto Rican Society of New Britain on September 9, 2017 in celebration of New Britain’s 2017 Puerto Rican Festival.

Amongst the live music, food and vendors, people enjoyed company of friends and family on a warm and sunny September day. The Festival is a time when Puerto Rican culture and New Britain’s close cultural bond with Puerto Rico are celebrated.

In the midst of festivities, people remembered, and gave money to help the people of Puerto Rico, who were recently hit by the massive Hurricane Irma. State Rep. Bobby Sanchez (D-25) of New Britain, Rep. Minnie Gonzalez (D-3) of Hartford and Rep. Hilda Santiago (D-84) of Meriden led that effort.
