New Britain Youth Theater Stage Combat Workshop

In preparation for the spring production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, NBYT is offering a Stage Combat and Fight Choreography Workshop on Sunday, January 22.

The workshop will cover some basic training of stage combat including safely fighting, falling, and using fake stage weapons. Connecticut actor and fight choreographer Rob Richnavsky will lead the workshop for NBYT at the Berlin YMCA, 362 Main St., Berlin, on Sunday January 22nd from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.  Youth ages 11 and up including adults space permitting, for $20 per participant. Current and past NBYT actors and new participants are all welcome to register whether they intend to audition or participate in Romeo and Juliet or not.

Romeo and Juliet will be performed outdoors at the New Britain Museum of American Art in June. The NBYT production will be set in 1967 in recognition of the fiftieth anniversary of the “Summer of Love.” Auditions for the play will be held on February 20 and 22, and a short monologue will be required. Free monologue preparation workshops will be held on February 13 and 15.
